Try this

Ends keep coming off the hose and leaking. Glue them on with super glue and then use the normal clamping device as well.

Cheep fuel

Ethanol is placed in fuels at a rate of 10% by volume. Ethanol is priced at about $.50/ liter
You buy 10 liters of fuel at $1.46 and you pay $14,60 for the fuel. Now one of those liters is ethanol valued at $.50 and you are charged $1.46 for a product which is way below the value of the normal petrol.
With normal petrol you press the accelerator less and stay in a higher gear for longer going up hills.
Don't be duped buy your own ethanol at the cheaper rate and add it your self at a rate of nine liters to one ethanol.
I have posted before about LPG costing $3/ liter as opposed to $.78/liter because it is for a barbeque.
Talk about rip offs.
Let the experts tell me I am wrong I dare you.

Police car spot fire fighting

I have come up with a high speed spot fire engine to control spot fires beside roads. The vehicle would carry say 80 liters of water which would be compressed with air like a normal fire extinguisher. On arriving at the fire site the driver would control the water hose from the drivers position with out leaving the drivers seat. The idea being they could be mounted on any vehicle from a car to a utility. The quick response time is the critical time to stop the fire becoming large. This could then be followed up with a normal fire brigade to mop up. These units could be placed in Police cars and Ambulances in times of fire danger. This would endear the police with the public.

Energy ABC TV's Big Ideas

I have been watching an energy conference on ABC TV's Big Ideas on electricity generation by renewables or atomic. The whole point has been missed. To reduce the demand there is two options! Reduce population is the first way the second is to build housing that does not use energy and this can be done.
It will take a shift of thought and a shift of mindset by the politicians and the lobby groups. In the end greed will win. When we have government bodies charging for water and sewage and not allowing other ways to deal with the problem knowing there is no tap for water and peeing in the corner of the shed and crapping in a bucket.
They demand you build a  Mac Mansion then say it can not be built because of height restrictions and the building of a small dwelling is not allowed because it has to be medium density residential.
What happened to he who pays gets the say. I can not reside in the shed that is on the land as I don't have a occupancy certificate. GREED WINS
All I am asking for is common decency and fair rules to apply.
Council workers have no thought as to the harm that they do and the stifling of new ideas that will
reward the masses and future generations with a better life.

Anger over photos of Indonesian cattle cruelty

Updated 3 hours 30 minutes ago
Animal rights activists have denounced the "cruel" treatment of cattle in Indonesia after pictures emerged of cows being lifted by a crane from ropes tied to their heads.
It is another blow to the country's reputation for dealing with livestock following international criticism in 2011 when the ABC's Four Corners program aired footage of Indonesian abattoir workers torturing cows shipped from Australia.
The scandal prompted the Government to suspend live exports to Indonesia for a month.
In the latest pictures, taken by an AFP photographer, a crane is shown transferring three bony cows from a boat in the eastern Javanese city of Surabaya using a loop of rope around their skulls.
Another photograph shows seven live cows being lifted in a similar fashion in one group, with their necks outstretched.
The boat transporting the cattle had come from Sumbawa island, around 500 kilometres east of Surabaya, but it is not clear whether that is where the cattle were reared.
The cattle were to be transported to the capital Jakarta, according to a worker in the operation who declined to give his name.
It is not known which company was transporting the cattle.
While a large number of cattle are transported around Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, it is not normal practice to lift animals up by their heads.
"It is crazy that cruel practices are still happening," Jakarta Animal Aid Network campaigner Benvika told AFP.
Indonesian Veterinary Association chairwoman Wiwiek Bagja said animal welfare laws in effect since 2009 did not work because they do not actually lay out what punishments people should face for animal cruelty.
"In short, Indonesia is very far from implementing and enforcing the law," she said.

Fire risk

The last two days have been used up removing combustible materials from around the house. Talk about unwanted calls two from the emergency services today warning of hot dry windy conditions. Things that matter are cobwebs in the corners of building . Cobwebs are highly combustible and if left they track fire to the roof where there should be no leaf material as this is a source of fire entry to the house. I normally would block the downpipes and fill the gutters with water. Inspection has shown no leaves here to catch fire. It is a good idea to part fill the gutters as this extinguishes wind born embers. The place I live in in in the suburbs and there is a lot of houses between me and the bush. This is not a excuse for complacency as loosing one house to flood I do not want to loose another to fire. The temperature is about ten degrees higher outside. All the internal doors and blinds are closed to stop heat running threw the house increasing the internal ambient temperature. There is slight amount of smoke in the air and there is no wind, the quite before the storm. I have seen severe fire storms and they are a thing of terror. The dog needs to be tied up so I can get her if things go bad.
Things to do are fill my fire extinguishers get dust masks ready with goggles and leather gloves long sieve cotton shirt and water down the lawn areas if needed. I am not entirely ready as my fire fighting pump is not set up, too many moves in the last years. I will inspect areas for escape if needed and plan this in advance instead of by chance. I now sit and wait. Being relaxed is a must at these times knowing all has been done. With all the preparation nothing will happen and the fires might not even eventuate but if they do all hell breaks out.
