Well I here in the news by a whistle blower that safety is a problem at ANSTO at Lucas Heights. What's new, here is a photo of a cartoon drawn by one of the workers at ANSTO when it was the AAEC. Things haven't changed  just look at the reactor in the image The extension cord and the sparks coming from the computer and this is from the elite of Australian technology. Or is this just the coffee shop at the canteen? Now I personally haven't worked at the above places but when I was working with my old mate from the UTS in Sydney some of the engineers from ANSTO came in and told of harrowing stories and things to come. This is why when I saw this cartoon at the rubbish tip, that I was to have it for this blog and this moment in time. IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH TRUTH IS SAID IN JEST......I dont know who the artist is or who the person is in the cartoon. What I do know of is that the waste from the reactor is in holes drilled into sandstone.....

lightening and boat materials

Aluminum is used with stainless steel copper fiberglass timber and carbon fiber in the construction of boats. I am going to talk about carbon fiber this material has an electrical conductivity 10 times better than aluminum. When using laminates of dissimilar materials special mechanical bonding must be used as the heat transfer is totally different and so is the expansion rates when heated. I have seen where an electric motor was made with internal chemical bonds holding on the permanent magnets failed in a explosion and a total loss of the motors, The people were warned and the motors failed because of this difference in expansion where as mechanical bonding would have made the motors survive. There was a helicopter crash in the North sea caused by a lightening strike and the cause was related to de-lamination of the tail rotor due to the heat and the chemical bond between the leading edge made of aluminum and the carbon fiber blades.  Same goes for the rigging wires on a sailing boat made from stainless steel and attached to carbon fiber boat. Good engineered mechanical bonding is a must. now if you throw in the heat generated during an electrical lightening strike the bond needs to be stronger. Where is this going I'm not sure as I intend to use the drug sub in storm conditions and staying over night. There seems to be a hypothetical danger there and how do you design a system to deal with this in a once in a life time lightening event. I know that all lightening devices fitted to a boat must run down the outside of the Fiber glass hull as the lightening could blow a hole right threw the hull if it were contained with in the hull. Carbon fiber strips could be placed in in the hull during manufacture in the outside layers of the laminate so when the lightening left the hull it would only damage the outer layers of the composite. These are only thoughts and more research needs to be done in this area.

Arsnic and fireworks WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN

  Its amazing that the governments from around the world can use so much poison to celebrate the new year. Boy do I pay for it with severe pains in the chest around this time of the year. Its no wonder that birds are dying by the thousands this year. How do you stop the infidels. If we used these chemicals on the land for food production we would be attacked by the greenies and put out of business. I live south of Sydney and the predominant winds blow the gasses and the minute particles south and they settle here. Are you in a fallout area?


Arsenic Sulfide, Red
The common name is Realgar and it is also known as Red Arsenic. Purchase the technical grade, which is available as a poisonous orange-red powder. It is used in fireworks to impart color to the flame.
Arsenic Sulfide,Yellow As2S3 This Chemical is just as poisonous as its red brother and is also used in fireworks, somewhat. The common name is Kings Gold.
Arsenious Oxide As4O6
A white, highly poisonous powder used in fireworks. It is also known as Arsenic Trioxide, Arsenious Oxide and Arsenous Acid. Its uses are similar to Paris Green.

How to make things

If you take on a project break it into small jobs. It takes about 360 parts to make a steam locomotive. If you make one piece a day it will take one year. Some parts take longer like the boiler and this could take several months but even this is broken into it small parts and then there is the assembly of the boiler so this is about 6 months in total. So to make a steam locomotive it takes about 18 months. Smaller jobs take less time making one part every day till the job is finished and you will achieve things. TV takes the place of one part every day you watch it.  You will notice that sometimes I get waylaid when looking for materials and this slows the original job. Set a list of ten things for the next days work and number these in order of importance and work the list. The next day put the remaining things on the next list and add some more to have ten and then work on these the following day. Works for me.

Do the supermarkets fill meat with water

Well yes they do to increase the weight and then charge by the kilo. Try this buy your meat and let it warm up then freeze it and the water will condense on the cool plastic and there you have it the water on the outside of the meat. There is still more water in the meat after this process.

New stove

The last stove was too small so a new bigger gas bottle was sort and modified and the pictures tell the story. It burns the material inside to white ash and uses less fuel than the last stove. I am not shore how small a bottle you can use and get a good burn. I guess this is an ongoing project, one which I will perfect. This one has a grate inside at the bottom joint level. It needs a door handle and catch. The chimney is 2x4 inch steel that I found on the side of the road and the bottle was free. More photos will be posted as things progress. By the way it is dangerous to cut into bottles and do not recommend it to anyone. I still get the hair on the back of my neck standing when I cut into them as I know they are bombs. This is real monster garage stuff and I hope I never release the monster. The photos were taken on new years eve with my new camera.

Energy saving light bulbs are falsely marketed! Power = Volts * Current or volts x amps.

Now if you take there figures that are written on the 15watt bulb, the true power used is 20.8 watts not 15watts as stated
therefore from ohms law Power drawn form supply = 240 x 87mA = 20.88watts. All this is controlled by the Fair Trading department and it shows that the department gets it wrong on many occasions.
You can see there is a problem as they state there bulb uses Watts 15 watts of power but if you work it out from the values printed on the bulb it works out to be 20.88watts, I guess it takes Watt or Eddison  to work this out cause the Fair Trading Department can't.

So sorry for the miners families.

There could be further explosions in the pike river mine, The mine would have to be flooded with inert gas or water to be sure the fires at out  before anyone goes in that mine again. I feel so sorry for the families of those miners.

When you have an explosion that rips the ventilation fan off its base there is not much hope of someone left in the mine. If you look at the images of the NZ blast you will notice the carbon marks on the trees near the entrance. This was a methane and or coal dust explosion and the cause was some sort of ignition most likely from a hot roller on a belt. When these explosions hit they give no warning and every thing is blown from original resting place. Pipes twisted like spaghetti and blown to the nearest intersection. There is still a big risk of the mine exploding again.
I will let you know this is serious stuff and should be treated with respect. I know as I worked in a coal mine doing underground roof support and working with methane gas. There is a culture in coal mines that needs to be changed, My father worked in a coal mine and there was a fire in the mine that he worked at and he was lucky to get out. I suffered burns to my face and chest from a gas explosion in a model boat that I made and this was about half a ltr. of gas and air. I do hope for miracles though. I was lucky to be carried out Wongawilli mine on a stretcher and still be able to walk and live the rest of my life. Yes I do have mental scars.

Front end loader

The photos of the front end loader were taken today. It has just come back in my hands after fifteen years away. It was built in my shop by my son who was fourteen at the time. It is capable of lifting over a 1/4 of a ton on it forks. 

It has two Toyota diffs in it, one is turned upside down and are coupled together making it four wheel drive, it is articulated and the gearbox is from a Toyota Dyna truck. The axils have been shortened about six inches on both sides if the center. This is done with an angle grinder cutting threw the housing and the axils and then re welding the pieces back together. The hydrolics came from the scrap yards, This is hard to do these days as they wont sell to the public for fear of insurance claims, crazy isn't it.

The machine weighs about three quarters of a ton. It evolved to where it is as the original hydrolic pump was a piston pump and has the movements of start and stop as the pump delivered its load to the cylinders. Finally a vane pump was found and installed with smooth operation as a result. He went on to make a hydrolic car for the Shell mileage marathon and a hydrolic train as seen in a previous post.

He is now a electrical engineer and was considered a no hopper at school. He built a truck and took it to the school fete and made  the school hundreds of dollars for the school by giving rides and was never given any credit or thanks, If he played football by there rules they would have given him everything, he was good at football but hurt too many of the players and wasn't allowed to play. I wont tell anymore as he gets embarrassed by me telling his stories. Nuff said. The photos speak for them selves.

Neverwas trike.... This is weird like Neverwas Haul

More work is happening with the wheels being put on. The frame is welded and the steering heads are in place. The rear wheels steer and have suspension so this will give it a firmer hold of the road. It is at this stage questions are will it be stable at speed. The rider sits where the piece of wood is. The big black tube is from a bed head The pink bike is upside down and the two front ends are from a BMX bike front end with suspension. I tack welded the thing together and the local muffler place welded it with mig welder for strength. The trailer behind is for the drug sub. The trike will not be shown as it was too dangerous.

River floods have done damage seen and unseen. The unseen is the rabbit burrows filling with water and softening the soils deep into the ground. The above photo shows the result combined with the removal of trees that all help each other to buffer strong winds. This tree is as old as European settlement in this country and the question is why did it fall over. If I get comments I can delve deeper into this as I have more information and photos
