port kembla

These are some photos I took at Pt.Kembla. This is where I did a lot of diving work. The work involved inspections underwater rigging construction welding and cutting. I also dived as a pearl diver on the barrier reef in Queensland.

bath tub burns

Paint several marks on your bath tub one for cold water say blue mark, then top up with hot water to the temperature required and  put on a second red mark. Doing this for several levels allows you to fill the bath with cold water and then with hot lessening the chances of a child being scalded with terrible burns. Bath tub makers this is a free idea for your new bath tubs.
For the bath installers and plumbers put the spout at the side near the wall and the water will be stirred when the water is turned on it is less likely a child will fall against the spout as well.

Check out the stats on burns and you will be horrified.
Don't believe me check it out for yourself.
In fact I challenge you to dispute this, go on provide the facts I will publish them here.
What I am saying is someone give me a comment it lonely here in computer land...:)
If you dont want to leave a comment click an add so I can give the money to the local bush fire brigade.

burrages

If you set up an experiment to replicate the barrage on the fresh water side you will understand what is happening in the system as far as the water goes. Get a baking dish and a sponge to represent the soil and the dish to hold the water. Put the sponge in the dish and fill with water, Then suck the water out as the sun does threw evaporation and the water will level itself allowing more water to be sucked out keep repeating toll there is no water and see how long this takes to dry out the sponge. Do the same experiment again but put the water back to the same level twice a day ( this is to simulate the tides) and see how long it takes to dry out the sponge. Now in reality the land is the sponge and the catchment is the dish. What will happen if the water is not allowed back into the barrage is self explanatory . The land will dry out over time and it will take a lot of  time to get the water back into the land especially if there is no rainfall. Now do another experiment fill the dish with dirty water and boil the water off ,this is what the sun does and is called evaporation, and fill the dish again with dirty water and boil off, do this as many times as you like. Add in some chemicals and phosphates and cattle urine and droppings and you have a solution that is saltier and more sterile then the sea water. Then take a fan and blow the dust into the air for animals and humans to breathe and you will have health problems to add to the senario.I now ask you, do you want this to happen, do you want to live in this enviroment and as a tourist do you want to come to see this.

Do and read something different

I hope this page will help you to start reading newspaper and magazine articles a little differently, and perhaps start watching TV news with a slightly different attitude. Better still be proactive and select your viewing and reading material, don't just sit there and watch what is there. Always ask yourself, what are they selling here, and who is selling it?
If the news is dealing with an issue where money is involved, like global warming objective data won't be so easy to obtain. Remember, if everybody knows something, that image has been bought and paid for.
Real knowledge takes a little more effort, a little digging down at least one level below what "everybody knows."
We are all "conditioned". What we are exposed to through the media, especially television, shapes  our beliefs.
Britney Spears is paid millions of dollars to tell us to drink something cause it works, who is she a drunkard? Choise magazine says a washing machine is good and give it a star rating out of this world and when the are told of problems they still leave the star rating.(see posting on this blog about going green washing machines)
It is  clear to me that most of what is presented on  TV and in the news papers can be referred to as "poison for the mind".
Making and doing things has helped me make marked improvements in not only my health and other aspects of my life as well. I highly recommend you look into it. Dont believe me I could be wrong.

sugar-glucose

Is sugar and glucose killing you? Just research the subject on www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/sugar.htm  I think you will be supprized where you will find sugar and glucose in refined foods. Thalidomide caused problems in the past with court cases costing the community and drug companies a fortune, Is the same going to happen with sugar? Is CSR the new cash cow for the legal eagles or shall we call them buzzards? If anyone wants to make money on this buy shorts in the sugar company and put out a press release and that just might do it. I haven't done this as it would be immoral on my part. Check out all the adds that have popped up in the add section of this blog about sugar problems with there chemical answers!!!!! I just had another look at the anti sugar web sites and the adds were there all pushing there drug or there so called cure. By all means have a look at the adds and then read the link in this post above in pink.

Burrages and the envioment

This is one of the barrages On the road to Orient Point in N.S.W
This shows the fresh water side of the barrage with all the algal blooms Note there is no Mangrove trees There is no bird life and fish life that I saw.
This shows the salt water side of the barrage with the salt water Mangrove trees There were ducks on this side and there was fish breaking the surface of the water but I did not get to see what type
This is a small barrage and the Eco system is much smaller  behind this barrage
This is the fresh water side of this small barrage The water was stagnant and it was covered by large casurina trees which kept the sun off the water so I think this is why it is not filled with algae
This is the water side of the small barrage and the grass is in good condition but of a different type The water is cleaner
This barrage is further inland protecting another creek.
This is the fresh water side of the barrage.Note there is no mangrove trees, very mono cultured. algae in small amounts The paddock is free of cattle.
This is the salt water side the water is discoloured by cow droppings that have not flushed out of the system.
This is on the fresh water side .5 km up stream note there is no wild life at all
This is as far as I could go up this stream on public land but you can see the algae.
about 200 meters the drain goes in three directions and the above photos show one this is another branch
This is another branch and there is saline damage to the trees this branch is in bad condition with algae blooms.
This is opposite the barrage and on the salt water side again you can see the water discoloured by cows defecating into the water and water run off
This is further down the stream with out cattle entering the system, it looks reasonably healthy.
this shows one property that has fenced off the stream the cattle gather here as this is the only shade in the paddock
This is the last of the barrages along the stream you will note there is no fences or trees in the paddocks for the cows
A cormorant in the salt water side
Note there is little shade in the paddocks, you can see where they congregate in the hollow to keep cool
There is a little bit of work done to stop erosion due to low water the water if allowed to come this far would cover the sand. note the algae and the discoloured water from cattle droppings

Water without rain

There is a creek in Wollongong that runs through the long periods with out rain. It never dries up. What all cities and towns need is one of these. Imagine no dams just good clean drinking water and  it runs from the mountain.  There could be a hydroelectric power station to generate electricity but there is not.  it could deliver free energy 24/7 . It could generate 40 kilo watts of power I think. Yes it is there (the stream that is) and its true. The village the stream runs through is Wongawilli west of Dapto where the dogs are.. I ask you all to follow the stream to its source you will be amazed from where it comes from. Talk about the man himself getting water from a stone. This isn't just water its a stream. Ask the powers to be where it comes from and some will say its from God himself. Yes  if you don,t believe me go and look for yourselves. Google it if you have to on Google earth. The places name again is Wongawilli.:)

Enviroment disasters

As I have said before the damage to the river at Gundagai is starting to happen! We can not drink the water from the river just think of the poor cattle and sheep who have to drink from the sewer they call a the Murrumbidgee river, as they can not filter there water except through their stomachs. These photos are taken at the mouth of the Murray River which the Murrumbidgee flows into.  The photos are from The lakes need water.org  it is a disgrace and the people of Australia  should be ashamed of themselves to allow this to happen. I know of another area that is set up the same as the Coorong but only on a very small scale and the changes there are obvious I will do some research and put the results on this blog with photos. I believe the salt water has to come into the rivers to flush the mouth and clean away what I call environment rubbish. I don't believe that the salt water and fresh water will combine as there will always be an area of brackish water between the two. Damming water is only for humans not the environment, you know the greedy ones who get big salary's and payoffs when things go wrong. Maybe we can claim on the warranty?MMMMMMMMM!  If they want someone to blow up the barrages let me know and I will gladly turn the key.

Sustainable living

For the young ones who are doing it tough and want to live in the city like Sydney. Make yourself a barge out of 44 gallon drums and pallets scrounged from the car parks and streets. Ask and the stuff will be given to you. All you will need is a cordless drill and a heap of tech screws. You will have to invest in a swag for sleeping or sleep under news papers as these will definitely keep you warm. Showering can be done at places like universities or industrial estates. You wont be found out if you leave the premises cleaner than you found them. Other places are in motels when the guests leave the room early and there is no one there to stop you. Just act like you paid for the room yourself. Breakfast can be had by looking threw the left overs left at the doors, apples oranges tea bags sugar salt etc are all there for the taking. Be gentle have fun and improvise and things will get better. If you have the luxury of owning a car make sure it is one that you can sleep in comfortably go for a trades mans van as these have more room in them. Cooking can be done on a small drum with holes punched in the top and small sticks to do the heating with. A good source of protein is baked beans a couple of eggs and a bit of bacon. I call these cowboy beans and they will sustain you without getting sick. If you do have the misfortune of getting sick eat raw onions and this will fix you just put them between slices of bread , Its not as bad as it sounds . If you go to a new area of the country on arrival eat some local yogurt and this will stop you getting travelers belly.

Gas

When I went to the rubbish tip I would pick up a bottle of gas that had run out of date and take it home and empty it out and then take it back next time I went to the tip. They asked me what I did with the gas and told them I had the correct equipment to empty the gas and I would do this free as a service to the community. Did it for years. Then the greedy bus-tards stopped it cause they couldn't get any money from the process and didn't know how to get the gas out themselves. The special equipment I had was my gas barbecue and a spanner to connect to it. Now I see them bleed the gas to the air.
Then there was the fish shop oil that I blended with the diesel in my truck. This had to be cleaned and the way to do this is to very slowly let the oil pass over water and the solids would drop out. Did this for years as well. I would also get the oil from cars and blend this as well. Then the greedy bus-tards stopped this and wanted to fine me for evasion of excise tax on oils, I copped a warning and decided to leave it alone.
cheers mumble mumble Stewart

water

Here's how to use less water. Put a water tank on the house the biggest you can get, then install a pressure feed pump to the tank and a hose to the rear tap on the house via garden hose, You will have to take out the tap washer as this acts as a non return valve. Now your set. Now turn off the water supply to the house (that's after the tank has filled) . Now you are totally sufficient, So they come and read the meter to check water usage and they send you a nasty letter and tell you how its a crime to interfere with the meter. So you lets them know that you didn't touch the meter and they don't believe you and they puts a new meter in to replace the old one. So now you get a bit pi-ssed off and you decide not to use any of there water at all the next quarter and you carry water from the park down the street to supplement your water supply till the next rain. Then you get another warning about interfering with the meter. You explain that you haven't used any of there water.Tey dont believe you. They then replace the meter again. They also charge you water usage as they evaluate the water you have used in the past and based there bill on this. Greedy bus-tards they want my pittance as well to pay those CEO,s millions ....cheers mumble mumble Stewart

Sustainability electricity

So you do the right thing and use less electricity and the way you do it is to cook on gass or wood stove or better still a digestor using the gas to cook. You install a solar hot water service and you run your computer from the car battery and the tv being a new fangled flat screen energy efficient ones as well is run off a single solar panel and a car battery that you found at the tip. Then to top it off you buy your groceries every day so the fridge is turned off as well. Then you insulate the jug so the heat stays in the hot water between uses like a hot pot. You then wear your clothes for two days and you wash your undies in the shower and hang them on the clothes line to dry. Then you buy those garden lights and charge them in the sun during the day and bring them at night. You also charge your rechargeable power tools with the sun. You go to bed early and get up early and you spend more time in the garden and eat the spoils of your work. Then the electricity bill comes a whopping $84.56 and the amount you use doesn't register on the meter.. WHY?.... The greedy bus-tards (spelling mistake intended) want there cut for doing nothing and the CEO's want millions from our pittance .The company I'm with is Country energy

Sustainable forestry

As a kid going to school memories take the form of log trucks and saw mills, scrub lands and desolation. What I have said before there was a swamp in front of the house if you would like to call it that. The nights were cold even freezing and the only form of heat was a open fire, lots of stories were told by that fire. I went back to see where I lived as a child and there was nothing left I mean nothing, they told me a fire went threw a few years earlier and burnt down the village and the trees fences and every thing. There wasn't even a brick as the foundations were wood and the fire places were corrugated iron. There was nothing it was like no one ever lived there the village was called Bostobrick, West of Dorrigo. Even the timber mill was burnt to the ground. Getting back to the story. The timber trucks were bigger and the bloke who drove one was my best mate Ray. There was a new mill and the yardman was asked if he knew Ray and he did, He was due in in the next half hour. He asked who I was and I told him and he said Ray wouldn't recognise me after forty years. I said he would and he even wanted to bet he wouldn't. When Ray came in the yardman said to Ray that there was someone here to see him and Ray turned round and said hi Stewart I'll be with you in a sec. The yardman couldn't believe it after forty years and with a beard as well to cover my face and I didn't say anything, I thought it pretty cool. I went with Ray out to where the were getting the logs from and there were stumps in the forest which were cut down when I was a kid. It is sad to see the closing of the mill which used selective logging practices. The mill was a band saw mill and the old one was a circular saw mill. They milled the trees into timber to be used in the building industry. I'm a bit of a greeny( the farmer's in Gundagai recons I'm only half a greeny and I was OK.) but I do see the need for logging but not the destructive way they have raped the bush on the south coast of N.S.W and in Tasmania for wood chip. I will stand up to this type of logging any day. As for plantation timber the Forrest's are bare of wildlife and are eerily quite. There is no undergrowth at all. The tannin's that are produced in the clearing of plantation timber seeps into and destroys water quality for fish and the dependants of streams and rivers (including humans). Talking of rivers there should be no stock allowed near the rivers because when they get into the waters of a river they defecate. You can't drink the water below Tumut but you can at the Blowering dam as for Gundagai its a no no. All the towns and city's below farmlands are drinking putrid water that has to be cleaned up at the cost to the tax payers. Would it not be better practice not to have to clean the water up in the first place saving dollars and the environment. Would this not be a sustainable practice? This is why a lot of people go threw the motions of sustainability and never do anything and look down on people like me. More could be said on this subject but I might be sticking my head out too far. Nuff said. cheers Stewart

Noddy and the Farmyard Muddle. or Murder

Noddy will never be the same without Mr Golly. Who will fix Noddy's car at a reasonable rate? Noddy doesn't have a lot of money. Will Mr Sparks rip Noddy off? Were all the golliwogs murdered?
That white-faced Mr Sparks, who become the proprietor of the Toytown garage that fixes Noddy's car! Is Mr Sparks a developer? Did Mr Sparks pay a bribe to the mayor of Wollongong city council. Is he a scoundrel for erasing Mr Golly from the new book? Is he a member of the mafia? Has he paid off the ICAC? Is he a drug lord pushing pills from the garage? Is the box Mr Golly's coffin? Or is it mine? :)

The question is, was Mr Golly murdered and his belongings stolen from his family? Where is Mr Golly's body? HeHe HeHe :)The plot thickens. ;) Will the truth will come out in time? Is Plodd good enough to catch the perpetrators?

Or were these figarines found at the local rubbish tip? Were they found there? Who put them there and why , the plot thickens.

( Wollongong is a city 50 miles south of Sydney, Australia)

(ICAC is the Independant commission against corruption in N.S.W. Australia)

Tune in for the next episode of the missing Mr Golly and all the black golliwogs...and is bribery and corruption alive and well in the government of N.S.W.? HeHeHe :)$$$$:)

House for sale

under offer
Sorry for commercialising the blog.

All of the dead trees are gone they had a horse on the property before I bought it, and it was lacking salt and it ring barked the trees to get salt. Did you know that when sheep are feeding during the heat of the day they are probably starving, Even if the grass looks green. Well fed sheep and cattle eat in the cool of the morning or evening and are not on the paddocks during the heat of the day, same goes for Kangaroos and wombats that is why it is dangerous to drive at dusk.

This house is for sale it has about 1 acre of land walking distance from the main street of Gundagai. Just post a comment and I will get back to you if you want to buy it. The selling price is $130,000 Australian.

Steel mills

Gallaway steam engine
As an apprentice I worked in the billet mill at AIS Pt.Kembla. On down days we were assigned to work in various parts of the mill. In the soaking pits the billets were red hot and in the crane over the the soaking pits had to be worked on while the operation could not stop and the temperature was over 140 degrees and you could not put your spanners down cause if you did they were too hot to pick up again. We worked five minutes on and half an hour off. On one occasion I worked in the Galloway steam engine the largest horizontal steam engine in the southern hemisphere. I could stand in the high pressure cylinder and the stroke was probably 10 feet long. This engine drove the mill to produce railway lines, the rolls were 36 inches diameter and this engine nearly stalled when the rolls were squeezed to close. It was about 5 thousand horse power. They also squeezed down steel ingots to be used in the billet mill, the steel started as from memory 3ft square and went into the mill at about three miles an hour and came out the other end at thirty miles an hour. Some times we had a cobble, that's when the steel goes the wrong way and comes out the side of the mill and goes any where and the process can not be stopped till the steel stock is threw the last rolls. There is a fifty ton billet that is squeezed into a three inch billet and all this steel is wrap around the mill like spaghetti then it cools and hardens and has to be cut up with oxyacetylene. At the end of the mill the steel is cut into billets to feed the wire mill, this is done on the flying shears at thirty miles an hour the blades slam shut every two seconds at the end of each billet, each billet was about forty feet long. From the billet mill the billets are reheated to white hot again and put threw the wire mill rolls and the length of the wire is a mile or more long after this. The blokes who worked there were cool to watch as they grabbed the red hot steel and sent it back the other way threw the second rolls and again threw the third rolls.

steel boat

Finally have just launched the steel boat went like a dream the total cost is around $500 for boat and trailer. I can stand on the back corner and the thing don't try to tip you in the water it is really stable. I would recommend building in steel using 1.2 steel plate, the cabin is square tube covered in alloy sheet and glued in with Sega flex. I wouldn't use this glue again as it let go and the cabin vibrates... cheers Stewart

working trailer

This is my working trailer that I have had for many years, the hoist is welded to the frame and has lifted over a ton and broken welds.I used it as a mobile butcher shop to dress sheep, there was a plastic pallet that fitted on the top as a table and was easily cleaned down after use,It carried my little excavator ride on lawn mowers and any other job that needed doing. It was also a mobile scaffold with the scaffold tied down with ropes. It also served to gather fire wood. The tray is aluminum plate. The box on the front is water and dust proof and is used to hold ropes chains and spare wheel bearings.Again this is recycled steel and bits. cheers Stewart

steel boat

Put the outboard bracket on the boat today. This boat will be launched this week end at the Narooma traditional boat festival.

washing machine update

They gave me my money back and left the ruddy old new washing machine thing with me to get rid of. I did what I should have done in the first place and bought a machine from the scrap yard. As I have now done and its a little ripper cleans the clothes and dries them in the spin. I wont have to put them in the clothes drier to get the lint off the clothes like they suggested with the new washing machine. I would have had to buy a clothes drier as well and the electricity to run the drier would have broke the bank or the meter on the electrical box. So much for water saving energy efficient you bute washing machine.
When I finish washing the water will be drained over the garden so I get a second use for the water. The best thing is the cost difference between the two machines is a wopping $1004.00
The first photo shows the warranty sticker
The second photo shows the scrap washing machine.
cheers Stewart

free fuel for the life of your new car

Free fuel for the life of your new car.unlimited warranty and we pay you if it breaks down......That's the talk of a salesman who sells you the new car..Here's a free tip go and sit in the costumers lounge at there workshop and watch with bated breath as the costumer has to pay the bill he just got, when his car is in the full warranty period. Just watch out book the car in at $110 / hour and they keep the car for a day." Just leave it here at 8.30 am and pick it up a 5.30" This equates to 10 hours at $110/ hour=$1100 for the time it was there plus parts that you have broken. Then they claim off the manufacturer the correct price and there profit goes threw the roof. Thats what they wanted to do with my new Zuki. I wont mention the dealers name but they know who they are.

Trailer registration

I made this trailer and it all came from the rubbish tip and the cost of the trailer was $86 excluding new tyres. Now I takes the trailer to get the rego on it an they charges me more for the paper work costs me to build the flipping trailer. Included in this cost is stamp duty on top of the sales tax for the welding rods and a valuation is put at over $100 so more transfer fees apply, I dont know who i am transferring it from. Then there is the price of the plates which I now own and then they want them back if I don't register the thing again and if I don't give them back they want to fine me, there is a fee to give them the plates back as well. These people know how to recycle my money. Not only that they have you running around longer than it takes to build it as well. These places are worse than going to the dentist and getting your wisdom teeth out, without anesthetic and cost twice as much. At least the dentist is honest and you know its gonna hurt. They also tell me I cant put my boat in the water cause they don't like it cause it ain't standard, and that is the point of building the thing..Just wait when they see my submarine I have planed I think they will walk on water. ..he he:)
