Front end loader

The photos of the front end loader were taken today. It has just come back in my hands after fifteen years away. It was built in my shop by my son who was fourteen at the time. It is capable of lifting over a 1/4 of a ton on it forks.
It has two Toyota diffs in it, one is turned upside down and are coupled together making it four wheel drive, it is articulated and the gearbox is from a Toyota Dyna truck. The axils have been shortened about six inches on both sides if the center. This is done with an angle grinder cutting threw the housing and the axils and then re welding the pieces back together. The hydrolics came from the scrap yards, This is hard to do these days as they wont sell to the public for fear of insurance claims, crazy isn't it.
The machine weighs about three quarters of a ton. It evolved to where it is as the original hydrolic pump was a piston pump and has the movements of start and stop as the pump delivered its load to the cylinders. Finally a vane pump was found and installed with smooth operation as a result. He went on to make a hydrolic car for the Shell mileage marathon and a hydrolic train as seen in a previous post.
He is now a electrical engineer and was considered a no hopper at school. He built a truck and took it to the school fete and made  the school hundreds of dollars for the school by giving rides and was never given any credit or thanks, If he played football by there rules they would have given him everything, he was good at football but hurt too many of the players and wasn't allowed to play. I wont tell anymore as he gets embarrassed by me telling his stories. Nuff said. The photos speak for them selves.

drug sub

For all those of you who have been waiting to see the sub in the water you will have to wait a little longer. Is it going to float or turn turtle? I am thinking the same and am a bit apprehensive myself, Will I come out smelling roses or will I have egg on my face? The suspense is getting to me as well.
The big question is who is running the betting as I would like to have a bet myself say 50 cents each way.

Want to buy a boat

From my experience the most fun was had with the smaller boats. Now with that said what to look for?
The deeper the boat the safer the boat! I would rather 12" of free-board than 6" less chance to take water over the sides. Decking amounts to more free-board.  Engine size, The bigger the engine the more it costs to run. With that said you need to match the power correctly with the size of the boat. I had a sixteen footer with a 25 hp engine and updated to a forty and the fuel consumption went down. Shallow lakes can get large swells so I would recommenced to have a high front to keep out the water. I had the bow raised on my boat to five feet and on the lake I used it I took green waves over the front. The wider the boat the more stable, again if bilge keels are attached then the stability is increased. Drop center boards increase stability. If you go slower you see more and on the water time doesn't count as you have all day to get there. Most people these days have the hurry worry disease and its fatal. No hurry no worry. Now if it takes more than a day to get there then you need a boat that you can sleep on. Then there is the weather rain or just the heat of the sun or the wind so some sort of cover is needed.
With this boat you will also need to get back in the boat if you fall out. Must have a ladder available at all times. Then if the motor breaks down some sort of auxiliary power is needed so a small sail or a kite is more efficient than oars. Water is collected from the roof, if you have one. Its all about self sufficiency as you just don't get out and walk home when things go wrong.
The must haves are emergency radio beacons on the person as well as buoyancy vests as you don't know when you might end up in the drink.
If you are out at night navigation lights are essential and red interior light to keep night vision.
I will add to this post as things come to mind, The boat described above is my drug sub but you might like other features so give it a go. My little 8 foot tug boat could take waves over the deck and hit the wheel house and remain dry inside where a open boat would have sunk. The best boats are not necessarily the spruced up expensive boats.
In Sydney Australia they made a little motor called the Chapman pup and was 2.5hp. I was looking for parts for one of these and met the maker of this motor who took it on a voyage up the east coast of Australia and it took several months to see if it would last and it performed exceptionally and this was in a sixteen foot open boat. I can't think of the blokes name but he was in his seventy's when he told me of the story, I must admit I was Humbled in the presence of this man.

rex roberts

I received this comment and decided it needed a posting all of its own. This is the first photos that I have seen of his works,I think this is an earlier one of his works as the windows are not sloping.I thank Scott pond studios for taking the time to send this. Cheers Stewart

Scott Pond Studios has left a new comment on your post "Just read this fantastic book":

Rex Roberts was a man ahead of his time. He believed in building houses that were practical and served the needs of their owners. We have a Roberts' designed house for sale in Troy, New Hampshire. If anyone wants to check out the photos, you will see how how Roberts put his ideas into action.

Neverwas trike.... This is weird like Neverwas Haul

More work is happening with the wheels being put on. The frame is welded and the steering heads are in place. The rear wheels steer and have suspension so this will give it a firmer hold of the road. It is at this stage questions are will it be stable at speed. The rider sits where the piece of wood is. The big black tube is from a bed head The pink bike is upside down and the two front ends are from a BMX bike front end with suspension. I tack welded the thing together and the local muffler place welded it with mig welder for strength. The trailer behind is for the drug sub. The trike will not be shown as it was too dangerous.

news flash

New information has come to light as to how Humphrey lost his leg. He was seen out at the dog on the tucker-box late one night and was teasing the dog with a stick. The dog being made of bronze was hard to stir and when he did he tore off  Humfrey's leg. Humfrey thought he would be in trouble so he made up the story of the mice. I am not shore what the white stuff on the dogs face is, he is either crying for what he did or it is Humfrey's stuffing. He is sitting there as if to say it wasn't me ....So children don't tease dogs with a stick cause they might bite.

drug sub

I was asked a question as to how I fixed the top to the hull. Around the joint area there was 2" by 1/4" flat bar shaped to fit the fiberglass boat and was bolted into position and the cabin was welded to this. In the photo the flat bar is shown. Under the fiberglass large washers 2"x2" were placed to spread the load. Silicon sealant was used to seal the joint. The cabin was tack welded to this flat bar and the whole lot was taken off to fully weld. There was little scorching of the glass surface.

Humphery Bear at Gundagai

Humphrey was at Gundagai when the river flooded and then came the mice plague. Humphrey being a placid thing could not let the mice starve he offered his foot for them to eat. When found on a recent trip he was hemorrhaging his bits on the floor. With out a thought his left leg was amputated without anesthetic and he made a full recovery. The picture below shows him sitting on the front fence.

The next photo shows Humphrey playing hide and seek sitting in a tree hiding from a little girl.

He also went swimming in the Murrumbidgee river in all his clothes. He could have found a cleaner part of the river to play.
Humphrey asked to come to Nowra to live as he said he doesn't like the mice anymore and the next photo shows Humphrey visiting Goulburn on the way to Nowra.

gundagai river flood

River floods have done damage seen and unseen. The unseen is the rabbit burrows filling with water and softening the soils deep into the ground. The above photo shows the result combined with the removal of trees that all help each other to buffer strong winds. This tree is as old as European settlement in this country and the question is why did it fall over. If I get comments I can delve deeper into this as I have more information and photos

drug sub

Those drug subs that the Columbians build are probably one of the best types of boats made for the open ocean. I read where they crossed the Atlantic ocean in a similar boat with a small Tohatsu outboard motor.  please check out the following http://www.tohatsu.com/news/seiko.html . Maybe I should use one of there motors.

strawler

I have put the port and starboard lights on and have had to get more parts and have to spend more time to get all the parts. The photo shows the installation.

drug sub

The windows are in. Looks like one of those drug subs! It wouldn't be hard to make a drug sub from steel and set it up to move automatically to a destination and sink to await being woken up by the owners.  The welds are strong and have good penetration as seen in the below photo.
Then there is the view from the stern and a bow photo.

strawler

Windows marked out ready to cut. I made them small so if they get broken in a heavy sea then there is only a small hole. I am using 6mm lexan for the glass.

just a number......

We gave 500 dollars to the rspca those people who look after the animals and told them it was a one off payment. Our name then goes onto a list and out come the letters begging for money at least a hundred of them.
I decided to ring them to stop the postal service getting all the money we gave them. They answered promptly and it wasn't a machine. The request was made to take us off the list but I needed the number on the letter. I was just a number to them not a name. I was lucky I had the letter and the number was there to give them and I was taken from the list. Now I have to get my number off all the other lists that have been sold to someone else. We thought that it would be nice to give  to the animals.

strawler --- drug sub

More windows go in to stop it looking like a drug boat.

strawler

The shape is looking good it looks like one of those drug subs I see on the net. If it was loaded with two tons of drugs it would sink deep in the water like those subs so I think with out the weight if will be a good sea boat.  I think I have just given a idea to those sub builders and the drug barons, would be nice if they the barons paid me for the idea. I aint into drugs so to be caught on the open sea in this thing I think I might get arrested.

The windows have to be cut in and you can use an angle grinder with one of those thin cutting wheels on it for the straights and a jigsaw for the corners.

strawler

More work on the shed! If it don't work it will make an expensive shed, it is looking good with the hand rails on the roof and the navigation  lights at the end of the rails. Mounting hand rails you only need an inch of clearance for your fingers to fit behind the rails with comfort. this next photo is looking from the inside of the boat.

This photo above shows the hand rails on the cabin sides.

The final photo shows the general layout of the cabin on the boat.
Fitting out will commence in the coming days.

strawler -- drug sub

This photo taken looking from the bottom.More work done and it looks good, the weight is not a problem. The photos speak for them selves.

This is the finished product fully welded.
Just some hand rails to go on.

strawler --drug sub

Today the cabin roof was welded on lots more to do. The shape of the cabin from the top is airfoil in shape so when it is powering to windward it will generate a small amount of lift.

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

strawler

More work has taken place and there is a monstrous amount of room in the cabin. Weight is not an issue as the total weight is about 1 hundred kg. maybe it might be stealthy cause of its shape. The photos speak for them selves.

How to make a drug sub

Just started on the conversion of my trailer sailor to a trawler. The photo above shows the start. Flat bar was welded together to make a foundation for the cabin and screwed to the boat.

train bike

My son wanted to have a bike to take on the trains in Sydney. It had to be small and light enough to carry up three flights of stairs. This is what I came up with. The wheels are 16 inch but smaller ones would suffice. The smaller bikes tend to be front end light when you make this conversion and can throw you off the back when you apply pressure of an adult to the pedals. The photo below shows the result.

Sudden infant death syndrome (causes)

Whirlpool have declined to help me and I have decided to keep the washing machine and use it for all future attacks on domestic machines that do not provide for good returns. I would be wrong to palm the stinking thing off on some poor unsuspecting individual. That is why I sleep well at night. This is the type of machine (in the photo above) that causes the problem of unclean bed linen and is the most likely cause of sudden infant death syndrome. Sudden infant death syndrome is most likely an allergy to dirt and dust mites in dirty the bed linen...as the young child's immune system is under developed it has not got the strength to fight  ...even though the parents wash and clean to the best of there ability with there faulty engineered washing machines.

makin money

So you want to make money! Best get some rubbish and turn it into cash. How you might ask? Ive been thinking about one of the most disgusting bits of rubbish you can think of. Shitty disposable nappies. Lets look at what you can do with them. There good qualities Shit and piss, makes good fertilizer. Then there is the nappier itself made to absorb water lots of water  a built in dam. Fertilizer and water under the ground plants will love them as a starter pack. They are to be had for free by the thousands.

You can buy at the nurseries fertilizer by the bag and nitrogen by the bag and its expensive. Then you can buy water absorbant pads to put in pot plants to keep them moist and these are expensive and it is the same stuff in nappies to absorb the urine. Now if some enterprising chap or lass were to put the two together he would be on a winner. So there it is for free.

industrial chemist

I spoke to an industrial chemist about these washing machine and how they dump there dirt on the clothes. He said that the problem is more serious than I have stated that is health wise. He also said that I have been understating the problem and there is no doubt that I am right in my assumptions. Pathogens build up over time and these are very serious to human health. Allergens and toxins are taken into the respiratory system from breathing the dust from bed linen and are causes of asthma and allergies. I feel that a full investigation should be made into these types of machines and the problems they cause. Sudden infant death syndrome could also be another problem associated with these machines. In the mean time I would suggest the the manufactures of these do there own tests and prepare them selves for a law suit.

Whirlpool washing machine

I gets me money back from the previous washing machine and bought a new one. Big mistake made this time, a Whirlpool and walla after two months it dumps the chit build up in the machine on me clothes. You cant clean behind the inner bowl as there is no way to get in there! Now these people are good to me they will give me a front loader that is valued in the shop I bought it from $300 less than the top loader, and I have to give them fifty phucken dollars to boot. This is a good deal and I have to sign my life away as well.
I finally worked out what is wrong.
In Australia we wash clothes and hang them on a clothes line in the back yard and dry in the sun with the benefit of being cleaned further with the sun.
Now this is not the case in other countries they put the wet clothes in a drier and tumble the clothes and the lint and dust is removed there. Now I don't have a drier to tumble the clothes and remove the dust and lint, with the added cost of electricity as well. Some would say I'm a cheapskate, now if this were true I would have bought a much cheaper washing machine. I want the best for my dollars spent so I buys the best that me money can buy.
I was resigning myself to the fact that I had been had, and was going to forget about the problem and put up with the dirty clothes. Until me wash today. This is how me clothes look in the photo and it really pissed me off. It didn't really piss me off so to speak. I was irate and if that sheila that I was dealing with from the washing machine company was here I would have smacked her right in the phucken chopper cause that's how I felt. Now don't get me wrong I'm a peaceable bloke and would never hit a woman. But exceptions can be made. Now women understand these things and blokes fix problems. If she wants to work in a blokes environment she must accept these things and fix problems of her companies makings. Not stand over people with genuine concerns with contracts with a take it or leave it attitude cause I now understands these things. Cause she will meet some like me who will not take it and leave it. This next photo shows the washing machine that I an concerned about. Further posts will be written as things develop.

First moon landing

I have always wondered how they photographed the spaceship traveling towards the moon landing. Who was operating the camera? Where was the camera mounted to take such pictures? Was it really a scam? Just wondering....
  1. No Plans for return trips
  2. Images show that Stars were missing from the black lunar sky
  3. Absence of engine noise in official NASA footage - how was it possible to clearly hear the voices of the Astronauts?
  4. No Blast Crater under the LEM after the powerful engines had been fired
  5. Astronauts Footprints - How was it possible for footprints to be left undisturbed and without dust
  6. American Flag was waving - how is this possible when there is no air on the moon
  7. Grainy, Unclear images although technology at the time could have produced much clearer images
  8. Shadows - The only source of light on the moon was the Sun but shadows were cast in multiple directions
  9. Lighting - Images of Astronauts were brightly lighted although their positions would have clearly been in shadow. Some images indicate that the Astronauts appeared to be in spotlight
  10. The Van Allen Radiation Belt - Could the Astronauts survive travelling through the deadly radiation belt which is situated 500 miles above the earth and is 1000's of miles thick with only the protection from their space suits and the thin covering of the space ship when it is estimated that 6 feet of lead would be necessary would have been needed. None of the Astronauts have since showed any signs of radiation poisoning
  11. No other manned mission has gone through the Belt
  12. Silencing - It seems unreasonable that information would not have been leaked about any such hoax - theorists therefore believe that key witnesses, including members of the Astronaut Corps, were deliberately silenced. Between 1964 and 1967 10 astronauts died in accidents - 15% of the total astronauts at that time.

The problem with all non filtered and Whirlpool washing machines of this type

The problem with all top loader washing machines is that with out a filter the dirt builds up between the inner and outer bowls this photo shows the outside of the inner bowl this has been left out in the weather for a while and is cleaner than one in service. You can see in the photo that some of the bowl has been cleaned for comparison
This next photo shows the inside of the outer bowl of the same machine again the dirt has been wiped away to show the comparison and the amount of dirt build up. If a filter is used then the build up of solids is less and it will not break away in a wash cycle and cover the clothes with dirt. This is the problem and the manufactures know this. What they rely on is the drier to remove the dirt from the dry clothes. This also is the reason for allergy reactions to increase in the population as a whole. That is dust and pollen allergies.
Anyone who makes money from these machines or sells these machines is leaving themselves open to a class action law suit. That is why Whirlpool wanted me to sign a waver. I will not and I will be here if some lawyer needs a professional to testify in court as to the function of these machines.

This examination was taken at my own expense so as to let the public know the problem.

ant- catipiller

Back in the 1980s I was helping a preschool by repairing tricycles that were averaging about 2000 kilometers a week. This was worked out by measuring the length of the track and the time it took to go round it once this was multiplied by the number of minutes and hours per day they were used and the number five for the days of the week. I arranged for a Caterpillar to be made and it was there for years and the kids loved it. It was then removed and taken away and cut in half and became an ant. The ladder used to go over and come back to the same position as the ants tail it had twelve legs.  It was removed from its new location as an ant and was never seen again.  Until today when I saw it on a web site, I emailed the owner of the site and was told it was probably the one I had made. One of the colour schemes was with the eyes painted red with black pupils and red veins in the whites it looked drunk. The body was always yellow with black legs. So here it is thanks to the apprentice boilermakers at the Wollongong Technical College for making it.Thanks to the unknown photographer for the image.

Jockey wheel

I went to the rubbish tip and found part of a jockey wheel set up and it cost $2 and was fixed up with an old wheel that I had. This was welded on to the boat trailer making it easier to move around.

power tools

Power tools are easier used when the leads are cut short, You don't have to bend down to find the two ends and plug them together. If you really want to speed things up a hook can be placed in a convenient place for the extension lead end to fit into. Manufactures could make the fittings directly into the tool and do away with the lead altogether. All tools would benefit from this especially saws as the lead would not catch half way through cutting the bottom of a door lets say. I use yellow leads so they can be seen which is different from the power tool leads which are black or gray.

Whirlpool Washing machines

So I bought a new Whirlpool washing machine again! This one is worse than the other one.  I puts me clothes in and out they comes with chit all over them. It takes about two months for the stuff to build up in the back of the machine and then it dumps it all over your clothes Then they say its been good for two months well maybe. If I examines the chit its got a build up of all the stuff that has gone in there and if you are washing nappies then there is shit. Given time the microbes multiply and you gets ecol i forming. Sounds gross it is, cause it goes onto your sheets and pillow slips and now you start sneezing. Ever wondered why.

Lets start with what a washing machine is to do:- wash clothes and sheets etc. Do the same for years. Filter the large pieces out so there is no buildup in the machine.
How do you test if it is doing so. Two ways, one put the clothes in the drier and see how much lint is in the drier filter. Two if you don't have a drier then hang them on the line and give them a bash and watch for the dust. If there is dust then your machine is a chitter. If there is lint in your drier filter or dust in the air then your washing machine is doing a chit arse job.
You and your family will get sick Asama, allergies etc. It is given that you will without a doubt in time get sick from your washing machine......That's a promise and I seldom use the word Promise. As for the new machine I am going to get my money back again And then I will let you know how it happens.
Around 85% of children with allergic asthma, and about 10% of the population, are sensitive to house dust mites, which are unfortunately found in every home, no matter how clean. What is less known is that it is actually the house dust mite protein (DER p1) found in their minute droppings and decomposing body parts, which cause respiratory allergic reactions. An allergy to house dust mites can also be linked to atopic eczema.[3]

Unfortunately, they breed in our favorite place - the bed. They live in mattresses, pillows and duvets, where there is an abundance of food (our skin flakes) and high humidity (our sweat). The average bed can easily have over 10,000 dust mites living in it, and over two million droppings.

And here are some more horrible facts:

-- There are 1,000 dust mites per teaspoon (1 gram) of house dust

-- Their numbers have increased dramatically in the past 20 to 30 years, because of increasingly closed and warmer homes

-- They are so light and tiny that they float easily into the air when disturbed by our daily activities. Inhaling these minute particles causes allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to the protein

Oil spill

1/ The riser from the oil well is to be cut off by any means possible leaving an open pipe.
2/ A plug is to be made in copper with a wall thickness of about 20 thou wall thickness with hydraulic hoses attached. Multiple "O" ring seals are to be placed on the outside diameter so when the plug is inflated with about 6,000 hydraulic pressure will make a seal on the well riser pipe This plug is to have a steel pipe through the centre with a valve on the end that protrudes from the hole.
3/ The pressure should be enough to distort the riser pipe stopping the plug from being expelled  when the plug valve is shut.
4/ The well hole above the plug can then be grouted with pollyisocinate
Simple yes but putting it into practice no as I understand the problems of working in extremely difficult circumstances using robotic equipment under water.
So there it is free of charge for the oil barons to make them selves look good.

The fun stuff starts

I have decided to concentrate my efforts on the sail boat that I bought The trailer mud guards are on and welded up. I have decided to put a cabin on the boat and remove the mast and power with a small kite.So thats the way I am heading and will post as I go. The cabin is to be made from alloy and bolted on. I will start with a Jig made from steel and this will give me an idea as to how it will look when finished. I have marked out the place where I want the cabin to sit and as luck will have it the surfaces are all flat and straight so no bending and forming is required...
